Wood Composite

A full wood composite surfboard starts with solid stock balsa or redwood, milled in shop into paneling. This retains the structure and spring the wood naturally has and makes the finished boards super lively.

The board is shaped from an ultralight EPS foam blank with no center stringer to allow the wood to flex and spring without any dampening a conventional heavier blank or stiffening stringer would cause.

The board is then rough shaped to remove the panel seams.

The paneling is roughly laid up on the board.

Wood rail layers and any nose or tail blocks are added.

A vacuum system is used to adhere the wood to the foam and make it perfectly conform to the shape.

Then the rough blank is finish shaped and block sanded to a fine finish.
*Finished full wood composite boards weigh less on average than a conventionally built surfboard and are many times stronger.
